Spring Luncheon for 2017 Held April 28th

A great time was had by all the nearly 100 people who gathered to attend the 2017 Spring Luncheon at the International Country Club in Fairfax, VA on April 28th. Members and their guests gave wonderful support to our philanthropic programs which feed, clothe and educate at-risk children in the Northern Virginia area.

We would like to thank our speaker Kimberly Suiters, ABC7 Consumer Investigator and Evening News Anchor, for lending her support to our cause.

And for the fifth year, Auctioneer Danial Sanders, owner of Four Sales Estate Sales in Alexandria, donated his services in support of the very lively live auction.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who attended and participated in our Silent Auction!  We are grateful for your contributions to our annual Spring Fundraiser 2017.  In addition, we are especially appreciative of our Spring Luncheon Sponsors as well as those businesses and individuals who have so generously helped us throughout the year.

In August 2017 again we Shared-A-Haircut! During the first two weeks of August (1st-15th), every time a child, up to age 18, purchased a haircut at Hair Cuttery, Hair Cuttery donated a free haircut certificate to a child in need. As a result Northern Virginia Assistance League distributed 1800 coupons in September to needy children in schools across Northern VA including Manassas, Reston, Springfield, Falls Church, and Fairfax to be used before November 18th this year.

Thank you for sharing this information with your friends, neighbors and family and supporting Share-A Haircut.

2016 Spring Luncheon held April 29th

It was a wonderful Spring Luncheon! Thank you to all of our members and our many generous guests who joined us on April 24, 2015 at the International Golf and Country Club to celebrate ten years of serving those at risk in our community. Your generosity will make it possible for Assistance League of Northern Virginia to continue to help so many children who are in need of food, clothing or a boost toward literacy. A big thank you to all those who helped make our luncheon such a success.

109 attendees enjoyed the informative feature presentation by the Fairfax International Urban Search and Rescue Task Force. They are recognized throughout the world as a premier leader for the provision of training in catastropic event mitigation, readiness, and response and recovery techniques. Two days after our luncheon this organization deployed to the international disaster in Nepal, where they were part of the team rescuing a 13-year old boy who had been trapped in the earthquake rubble for 5 days.
