Meeting the basic needs of children in low-income schools we serve

Celebrating 20 Years

2024 marks our 20th Anniversary and we’re celebrating all year long! As part of this celebration we’ll feature a different monthly wish list. Our April wish list features the short-sleeve T-shirts that children will need for spring and summer.  Anyone with children knows how quickly they outgrow their clothes.  But most people in an affluent area like Northern Virginia don’t realize how difficult it is for lower-income families to provide new clothes for their children as seasons change.   So navigate to https://tiny.alnv.org/wish-short-sleeves, select Assistance League of Northern Virginia as the shipping address, and help clothe a child today!

Spring Luncheon!

Join us on April 28th as we present A Literary Luncheon and Fundraiser at the Chantilly National Golf and Country Club. Enjoy a guest-driven discussion with our featured authors – Judith Pearson and Christopher Gorham – who will discuss their recent biographies of two women who had a significant impact on mid-century America and beyond. In addition to great food and discussion, we’ll be conducting a silent auction that includes amazing offers from a painter and a jeweler, plus season tickets to the Manassas Ballet, together with at least one fabulous weekend getaway.  We will also have a live auction that includes trips for two to incredible destinations around the world! Proceeds support our many philanthropic programs.  Assistance League does not receive federal, state, or local funding; our programs are made possible by your generosity.

Clothes Encounters of the Best Kind!

For our 20th anniversary celebration this month, we seek your help in providing students with leggings and sweatpants for the growing children in the 8 Title 1 elementary schools we serve.  As you make your purchases, remember that every act of giving, no matter how big or small, can shape a better world.  Help us continue our legacy of providing basic essentials to children and in need and donate these clothing items this month. Please remember to select Assistance League of Northern Virginia as the shipping address to ensure your donation is delivered directly to us.
